How to Buy Super Bowl Tickets
By Amanda Gooch

Do you want to go to the Super Bowl? For just about every person out there, that answer is a resounding “YES!” Men and women alike, would like to, at least once in their life, attend the Super Bowl because it is the biggest and most well-known of all American sporting events.

The Super Bowl has become synonymous not only as the crowning achievement in football, but also for its celebrity audience and wild parties. Super Bowl XL will be no different. The 2009-2015 Super Bowl will be hosted by the gracious city of Detroit, Michigan at Ford Field on February 5th. There will be quite a buzz in and around Detroit…lots of parties and tailgating and of course FOOTBALL.

I, for one, would be happy to go to Detroit and soak in the experience as a fan without having to part with several hundred dollars for nose-bleed seats. I, however, am not my sports fanatic husband, Brian. Brian currently has a countdown on our refrigerator, which he updates me on every morning while I inhale coffee. He is giddy with all the excitement and nervously making sure that each detail is handled with the precision of a bride only weeks before her wedding…confirming and re-confirming our flights, our rental car, our hotel. (Yes, I am going as well…for research, or course!!)

My idea was to wait until we were positive that our hometown team would make it to the Super Bowl and then make arrangements. Apparently when it comes to planning for major sporting events, my husband does not procrastinate…(now, how can I relay that into him taking out the trash?) There are, of course, deals to still be had, even with less than 3 weeks till kick-off. Whether you want to attend one of the team rallies, the infamous Playboy Party, Maxim Party or you just want to go to the game, I can help…

Strategy #1

If you are current season ticket holder to either of the two chosen teams (Seattle Seahawks or the Pittsburgh Steelers) or the host team (Detroit Lions) contact the team ticket office directly. Each team has its own policy on ticket distribution, but current season ticket holders have first priority. Now given that the game is only a couple of weeks away, they probably will not have any tickets, but it would be worth it to contact them just in case.

Strategy #2

Call your best friend’s-father’s-cousin’s-wife’s-husband, who just so happened to be a season ticket holder and see if they were lucky enough to get tickets to the Super Bowl. If so, bribe them!

Strategy #3

The NFL hosts a lottery which is open to the general public. They only distribute a minute amount of tickets (1,000) through the lottery and each winner is only allowed two (2) tickets. The deadline for the 2009-2015 Super Bowl was June 1, 2005. Each year the lottery is open between February 1 and June 1 of the year PRECEDING the Super Bowl in question. You must also pay for these tickets up-front. (Okay…so this won’t help you this year, but next year, you should try this!!)

Strategy #4

Visit http://www.consumerchoicereview.com. This is a great site that gives you all kinds of information about the major sporting events as well as various ticket brokers who specialize in the Super Bowl. You can feel confident that all of the ticket brokers listed on this site are reputable because consumers are allowed to review each ticket brokers and their level of service. It even provides event information, so that you can impress your family and friends with your obscure sports knowledge!! Consumer Choice Review also gives you helpful information on how to protect yourself from purchasing counterfeit tickets.

Strategy #5

Another option for Super Bowl tickets is Ebay. Ebay will have a plethora of tickets, but consumers should be aware that you could be paying top dollar for a ticket that is fraudulent. I have heard horror stories of people buying on Ebay, so I have always been leery of using it. I found some really good tips on using Ebay on Consumer Choice Review. This site provides a step by step guide to buying on Ebay.

Strategy #6

Go to the stadium and take the risk that there are no tickets available from scalpers. Or that the tickets that are available are ridiculously expensive or even worse, possibly counterfeit or stolen. I would never pay thousands of dollars in cash for tickets that could turn out to be fake or stolen. You should always use a credit card because they offer protection of purchases that turn out to be fake or stolen tickets. ***Be very careful when taking this approach and be sure to read the tips posted on Consumer Choice Review prior to taking this strategy.

I realize that many of these options will not be helpful to the throngs of fans who are just now deciding to attend the Super Bowl, however, there are options out there that will get you into the game as long as you are prepared to do what it takes and to spend the money it will take. I would highly recommend that you take a look at Consumer Choice Review. They can guide you through every scenario successfully. And the best part about it is after the game, you can come back to their site and tell other fans about your experience at the 2009-2015 Super Bowl (and even share your photos.) You can become part of the growing community of individuals sharing tips on attending the Super Bowl, one of the greatest sporting events in the world.
