How To Create Journal Legacies In Your Family
By Dionna Sanchez

Journaling is a tradition started many, many years ago. Most women are familiar with this tradition, yet aren’t inspired enough to maintain or start one.

There are many different ideas and forms of journals. The most basic, is the journal for you as an individual. There are some fun other ideas for journals as well. These other ideas will inspire you and encourage you to leave journal legacies within your family.

~ Travel Journals

Travel Journals are great for anyone in your family, especially your children. You can use just a binder and some notebook paper, or buy a fancy hardbound journal book. Take these journals with you on any travels you undertake – whether by plane or car. You can either take the time to write in them here and there while you are away, or write in them once you are home. Write about your experiences, what you learned about the location you were at, include postcards and mementos inside, and savor the experience.

~ Family Occasion Journals

Pick a family occasion that is a fun get-to-gether for everyone and one that recurs annually. Whether it is a reunion, Thanksgiving, New Year’s Eve, or a summer BBQ – start a journal for it. Bring the journal out during the occasion and let different family members write in it. You can even include snapshots from the event. Each year, these journals will bring great joy as everyone reminisces.

~ Blessing Books

Keep one for yourself, have your children keep one or keep one as a family. Get it our regularly and write all the things you have been blessed with and are thankful for.

~Pray Journals

Prayer Journals are the most concrete way to see how the Lord is answering your prayers.

~”I Love You” Journals

Keep a book for each member in your family and write in it here and there of all the reasons why you love them. When it is full – present it to them on Valentine’s Day.
